New Orleans Cycle Portraits

If there’s one place you can find every kind of character in New Orleans it’s on a bicycle. From the absolute poorest to the working class service industry to white color twenty somethings to hipsters to punks. You name it and it rides a bike somewhere in this city.

Not only is it extremely practical it’s also something of a badge of honor. Even though biking is incredibly convenient due to parade routes, traffic, terrible roads, and a landscape mostly devoid of hills it’s also incredibly dangerous due to very low visibility on our streets and a general disregard for bicycles in general. Not to mention the chances of your bike being stolen or stripped while your looking in another direction.

I could shoot all day every day and never exhaust the endless stream of great characters bicycling around New Orleans. Here’s a few of my favorites.
