In order to make any kind of discovery I must first get myself a bit lost. You won’t discover anything siting in the known. At least I won’t. The comfortable, the known, the common, and the everyday. These are the counter weights to discovery. When was the last time I felt really lost? Geographically, emotionally, or intellectually. If you search you can find little things in the places you know that you missed before. Small finds, they can be rewarding and amusing but are ultimately only the details of the things you already discovered that you overlooked.
Tomorrow I’m going to get a little lost. Make a discovery. Outwardly or inwardly. Maybe find a new patch of high ground. Build a lighthouse for others to see. Then take in the air from on top of it.
