Keep it simple. In a world so complicated simplicity seems completely lost to me at times. But when you find it or create it I think you’ll find it rings truer than anything you’ve known. Don’t get me wrong I love elegance and the genius of complexity but there’s a pureness you can sense when you witness something simple and true.
Rarely does complexity give me more pleasure then it’s more simple counterpart. Shooting with my Nikon D7000 is great but everytime I release the shutter of my Pentax and expose a single frame of 35mm film the satisfaction is palpable. Never does texting on my cell phone give me the same pleasure as engaging someone face to face in great conversation. And Rarely does my most convoluted plan have more success then my simple ones.
The most elaborate drum set will always impress but never as much as one man with a washboard. When you witness someone create something great with what seems like an impossibly simple tool you will suddenly know that the best things in life are the simplest ones.
Keep it simple. You’ll thank yourself for it.
